Congratulations to Doerte Weber in receiving the Juror’s Choice Award for her work entitled, The Yellow Brick Road.
Held at the Foundry Art Centre, The Art of Our Consumption Exhibition “. . .invites artists to participate in this discussion using re-purposed, recycled, salvaged, found, or sustainable materials in their creations. Whether through media, process, or theme, artwork should speak to our relationship with and impact on our environment – what and how we consume, conserve, destroy, create, etc. As a vibrant home to the arts, the Foundry Art Centre raises awareness and appreciation of the arts throughout the region.”
Juror – Roscoe Wilson’s Statement:
Materiality is crucial for the understanding of work related to the theme of consumption. This exhibition mirrors the manner in which we devour the world and ingest the objects and materials within our throw-away culture.
The Art of Our Consumption Exhibition closes February 13, 2015.
